First and foremost, Hoffman is an artist. Although pen & ink drawings have always been one of her favorite media, this artist has been focusing on Chinese Brush Painting for the past sixteen years.

Aline began her adult life as an Art Teacher in the NYC public school system following her graduation from NYU with a BS in Art Education. Some years later she was introduced to art as therapy. As a result she earned a MS in Counseling Psychology (SCSU) while majoring in this area and became the Director of Art Therapy at a private psychiatric hospital.

Hoffman loved the healing aspect of art, however, she discovered that being an art therapist and an artist at the same time caused too much of a conflict in her life. In order to continue working with kids she shifted gears and was hired as a School Counselor at the Capt. Nathan Hale Middle School in Coventry, CT. She retired from a successful twenty-five year career in June of 2006 having worked her final year in the Coventry High School.

Various forms of healing, through counseling and art therapy, have been a natural part of Aline’s life. She began studying Reiki in 2000, earning the Master level in the Autumn of 2002.

The Maple Brook Reiki Center is housed in the artist’s studio and frame shop.
